Call for Papers: Transitions Abroad Magazine

For over 30 years, Transitions Abroad magazine has been the only publication dedicated to work, study, living, and cultural immersion travel abroad. Its purpose is the dissemination of practical information leading to a greater understanding of other cultures through direct participation in the daily life of the host community.

In our mission to expand upon our pioneering publications and remain the most comprehensive Web portal and webzine for work, study, travel, and living abroad, we are currently soliciting submissions for annual Student Writing Contest focusing on study abroad and experiential student learning abroad.

The following prizes will be awarded for the winning submissions:

  • 1st Place: $500
  • 2nd Place: $150
  • 3rd Place: $100
  • Runner-up: $50

All winning pieces will be published on the Transitions Abroad website and some in the monthly Webzine (TAzine).

Unlike many contests, there are no submission fees for any of the travel writing contests!

Submission deadlines are are March 1, 2011.

Guidelines and samples of past winners for the all contests can be found online at the website.

In addition, we would like to mention that we accept Student Participant Reports, Student-to-Student Reports, and Study Abroad Advisor articles on an ongoing basis, all year around. For publication in Transitions Abroad’s website and webzine, payment is on acceptance, ranging from $50 to $100.

Guidelines for these articles are available at the website.
