Bookstore Sales Associate

Summary: Reporting to the Bookstore Manager, the Bookstore Sales Associate will be responsible for providing sales and customer service to bookstore patrons.

Responsibilities

  • Provide sales assistance and customer service to patrons, assisiting with product information and making book selections
  • Open and close the store
  • Operate a cash register
  • Restocking and maintaining the selling floor
  • Maintain a working knowledge of library exhibits as well as public and performance programs

Qualifications

  • Some college preferred
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Demonstrated initiative and motivation
  • Retail sales experience preferred
  • Physical strength, mobility, and endurance for moving boxes and stocking shelves
  • Knowledge of humanities
  • Flexibility in schedule to meet the staffing needs of the store

Schedule: Part-time, Tuesday – Saturday, 14 – 21 hours/week varying based on the needs of the business. Non-exempt position

Salary: $10.00 per hour
