Enter Prairie Schooner’s Nonfiction Contest!

On May 2, submissions will open for the annual Prairie Schooner Summer Creative Nonfiction Contest. This is their third year hosting the contest, and they’re excited to see what the essayists among you are thinking about.

Submissions will remain open until August 1, 2014, and they will announce the winner of the contest on October 1, 2014. Their judge this year is Judith Ortiz Cofer, accomplished author and Franklin Professor of English at the University of Georgia.
 
Electronic submissions will be available on their website soon. The contest is open to all types of creative nonfiction essays up to 5,000 words. There is an entry fee of $18, which includes a subscription to Prairie Schooner. The winning piece will receive a prize of $250 and publication in the Spring 2015 issue of Prairie Schooner. So, get writing!
