Just to let you know more about the company and the internship June Media is a rapidly expanding online media company based in Chicago, Illinois and New York City that focuses on women’s topics. Its main properties are Recipe4Living, SavvyFork, FitandFabLiving, and Work It, Mom!, which receive over millions of visitors. We are currently seeking interns who are ready and willing to work in a fast-paced environment and are comfortable working in the realms of food, fashion, and lifestyle publishing.

CURBSIDE SPLENDOR

Curbside Splendor was conceived as a punk rock band in the early 1990s in an apartment in Urbana, Illinois. The band never really went anywhere, but Curbside was re-founded as an independent press in the fall of 2009. We’re located in the Humboldt Park neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. We publish fiction, creative non-fiction, and poetry that celebrates extraordinary voices. Through a handful of projects (which include publishing books, hosting an annual novella contest, and producing readings, shows, and book fairs) we aim to rewrite the tradition of Midwestern publishing. In August 2016, we will open Curbside Books & Records in Revival Food Hall, located at 125 S. Clark Street.
Editorial interns will assist with the implementation of publicity efforts for six of our key spring titles, copyedit manuscripts, research, write, and post content to Curbside Splendor’s blog (including at least three book reviews of independent books), assist in maintaining our social media accounts, table at book fairs and festivals, and manage sales through our web store.
Curbside Splendor requests a commitment of 10-20 hours a week from September through December. Interns will report to our our home office in Humboldt Park, and will be working intimately with editor-in-chief Naomi Huffman and managing editor Catherine Eves.
The internship is unpaid. Contact Naomi Huffman at naomi@curbisdesplendor.com for more information.
