From the new national literary magazine out of Baylor University’s English Department, Independence Literary Review:
We’re actively seeking poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction submissions for our inaugural issue due out this December, with a submission deadline of October 1. For prose, we pay between $50 and $200 based on word count, and for poetry we pay $50 for the first poem and $25 per poem thereafter. We publish both in print and online.

General Submissions:
Our mission is to build a prism of creative, independent thought and artistic exploration. We intend for the writing and art in our magazine to open windows to new ways of seeing the world—and we think we’re uniquely situated at Baylor, at the intersection of several different communities and audiences, to do so.
We welcome your poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction submissions of any theme.
“Healthcare and Healing” Folio:
Each of our issues also contains a smaller, themed folio. Our first, “Healthcare and Healing,” will feature your creative explorations of healthcare, illness, and healing in their manifold forms.
We’re seeking poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction that opens new windows of understanding into the body and the mind and the ways they can rupture, be repaired, be reconfigured, and be re-understood. We want to facilitate a conversation about what it means to care for ourselves and others with compassion, and the ways in which art can be a beacon of light in the process.
