The Poetry Foundation is looking for a media intern. Responsibilities include proofreading, creating event announcements, and updating media and community lists. Depending on the applicant’s experience in digital culture, the intern may help maintain the Poetry Foundation’s social media outlets. The application deadline is June 30, 2015. *** DePaulians chosen for the internship can receive academic credit by registering for ENG 509, the English department’s online internship course. Newcity Lit (June 4, 2015) “Lit 50 2015: Who Really Books in Chicago” Newcity Lit, a Web site about Chicago’s culture of writing, just released this year’s Lit 50 list. The list of Chicago’s literary luminaries features DePaul associate professor and MAWP director Michele Morano (#28) and visiting assistant professor Kathleen Rooney (#37). Congratulations!

DePaul assistant professor, Humanities Center 2014–2015 faculty fellow, and Slag Glass City editor Barrie Jean Borich will host Write ON Chicago/HERE is WHERE this Sunday, June 7, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Comfort Station in Logan Square (2579 North Milwaukee Avenue). Narrative is reading submissions for its seventh annual poetry contest. The prizes for the contest winners will be as follows: • First Prize: $1,500 • Second Prize: $750 • Third Prize: $300 • Ten finalists receive $75 each The submission deadline is July 20, 2015. There is a $23 fee for each entry. Poets may submit up to five poems here.

Glimmer Train is accepting submissions for its Fiction Open through June 30, 2015. The writing contest is open to all writers, subjects, and themes. The first-place winner garners $2,500 and publication. The reading fee is $20 per story. Writers may submit their stories here.

The Digital Youth Network (DYN) at DePaul’s College of Computing and Digital Media is seeking a summer camp coordinator for its summer camps, which help middle school students develop skills in design, electronics, and computer science. Writers Guild, a multigenre creative writing group housed within the University Center for Writing-based Learning (UCWbL), is hosting its quarterly open mic, Aloud!, this Thursday, May 28, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in SAC 212. Participants are welcome to share their own writing or to read excerpts from work they admire. Writers Guild will supply snacks.

DePaul art and literary magazine Crook & Folly will celebrate the release of Edition 35 this Thursday, May 28, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the DePaul Art Museum. Guest judges and Chicago writers Jonathan Eig, Jac Jemc, and Daniel Borzutzky will read; MAWP students Eric Hollander and Joe Hampton will provide their musical stylings; and magazines and snacks galore will be there for the taking. Crook & Folly will also introduce the 2015–2016 Edition 36 editors.

The Ashton Group is seeking submissions of 60-minute one-act stage plays for its Finding Words initiative. The writer should be no older than 25. The play can be on any theme or subject. Writers should submit a synopsis (including the plot and character outline) and the first ten pages of the play to the Ashton Group’s associate director, Chris Loveless, at chrisloveless@hotmail.co.uk. There is a prize of £500 for the winning play, which will be produced by the Apprenticed Actors Company. All writers will receive feedback on their work. The submission deadline is Monday, July 6, 2015.

The 31st annual Printers Row Lit Fest, the Midwest’s largest outdoor literary festival, will take place June 6–7, 2015, in the historic Printers Row district (at Dearborn Street, from Congress to Polk Streets) in the South Loop. Now in its thirtieth year, the fest will feature more than 200 booksellers from across the country and more than 200 authors participating in panels, discussions, and a variety of other programs.
