DePaul’s Center for Intercultural Programs (CIP) welcomes students to attend next quarter’s events. Topics include black life in cinema, fathers and sons, gender and perception, Afrofuturism, and South Asian queer identity. Follow the link or see below for the spring 2015 calendar.  

Summer Literary Seminars (SLS) is offering a two-week residency program in Lithuania this summer (July 14–28, 2015) for $2,400. SLS will fill the 20 spots on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Theatre School at DePaul is hosting the panel discussion August Wilson at Yale on Monday, March 23, at 7 p.m. on the Fullerton Stage. The event is free and open to the public, but reservations are recommended. Interested parties can make reservations by phone or email through the TTS Box Office (773.325.7900 X2; theatreboxoffice@depaul.edu). The event is part of Goodman Theatre‘s citywide August Wilson Celebration, which includes concert readings, panel discussions, special events, and a revival of Wilson’s Two Trains Running.

Congratulations to Tim Hillegonds, MAWP ’14, who placed his piece “Along the Front Range” in the March issue of Bluestem.  Also, a belated congratulations to Chris Lites, MAWP ’12, who published a profile of science fiction writer William Gibson in Slate in December of 2014.

Black Lawrence Press is still accepting submissions of unpublished poetry or short story collections for the 2015 Hudson Prize. The contest winner will receive book publication, a $1,000 cash award, and ten copies of the book. The submission deadline is March 31, 2015. Writers can submit their manuscripts here.

Affective Encounters: Philosophy, History, and Politics, DePaul’s annual department of philosophy graduate student conference, is taking place this coming Friday, March 13, and Saturday, March 14. See the flyer below for more details.
