The London and Dublin: Travel, Heritage, and History program during December Intersession examines the heritage, public history and travel narratives of both cities. These two cities are irrevocably entwined historically, in material culture and in public memory. The Spokane Prize for Short Fiction is open for submissions. Send them your previously unpublished manuscript of at least three short stories and a minimum of 98 pages for a chance at publication and a $2000 prize. The deadline is June 15th, 2020.  Each year the finalist is selected by a guest judge. The deadline to submit to the 11th annual Spring English conference has been extended to this Friday, May 15th! Find full guidelines here. Initially, the department intended to host the conference through a website featuring video panels that could be accessed any time. After further consideration and discussion with students, however, the English department has decided to shift to synchronous panels to be held on Friday, June 5, 1-5pm via Zoom. Tellus has extended their deadline for submissions to May 15th. Tellus is an online magazine celebrating the many voices of our DePaul community by showcasing the creative artwork and writing of multilingual and multicultural students. Publishers Weekly has removed their paywall, making all of their content available for free. Students and faculty can access open issues of Publishers Weekly, starting with the March 16th issue at www.digitalpw.com. Those wishing to receive an alert when the new issue becomes available can sign up to receive it at www.publishersweekly.com/digitalnotification. The entirety of www.publishersweekly.com is available without logging in, as is the digital archive of issues of PW dating back to the very first issue in 1872, which can be found at archive.publishersweekly.com.

The Slag Glass City is working on a new social media campaign called The Pandemic City. If you take photos (anything from casual phone photos to art photographs) that you believe may be a good fit for the campaign, the Slag Glass City would be more than grateful for the additional images! The University on New Orleans Press is now accepting submissions for their Publishing Lab Prize. Now entering its sixth year, the UNO Press Publishing Lab is looking for full length fiction manuscripts for this year’s prize. The selected author will receive a ten thousand dollar ($10,000) advance on royalties and a contract to publish with UNO Press. The work does not have to be regionally focused.
