Luminarts Fellowships 2017

Graduate MAWP students are highly encouraged to apply to become a Luminarts Fellow in creative writing for this coming 2017 year. Luminarts welcomes talented young artists of all social, economic and cultural backgrounds in the Chicago area to create together. SLS Contests 2017

The Summer Literary Seminars (SLS) are now open for submissions to their 2017 contests in fiction and poetry. The contests offer writers and opportunity to win full funding for SLS programs in Georgia and Kenya as well as publication in Fence Magazine. The entry fee is $17 and the deadline is February 28. All current, incoming, or prospective graduate students, this is a notification that the application deadline for 2017 Graduate Assistant in the English Department has been extended to Sunday, January 22. Find full information below: Each spring, the English Department awards a limited number of graduate assistantships for the upcoming academic year. All Female Story Telling and Comedy Event at iO

Scholarship Opportunity for MAWP Students

The Department of English is pleased to announce The Dontrey Britt-Hart Endowed Scholarship  a scholarship opportunity for M.A. in Writing and Publishing. The scholarship totals $2,200 in aide and applications are due February 5. Interested students can apply online. Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to a student enrolled in the Writing and Publishing Program in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences who is in good academic standing and has financial need. Deadline Approaching! MCLLM 2017

The deadline for submissions and abstracts to the 25th annual Midwestern Conference on Literature, Language and Media (MCLLM) is at the end of this month, Friday, January 27! Hosted annually by Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL, MCLLM is seeking proposals for 15-minute paper from individuals and panels on humanities research – especially graduate student submissions. Writing Program in Northern Ireland with ieiMedia

The Armagh Project from ieiMedia offers students to study creative writing in the beautiful town in Northern Ireland from July 2 to July 30. Students learn and practice skills in their chosen field while sharing with each other through travel, readings, class activities and guest speakers. Students have classes at the AmmA Centre, a technologically enhanced multimedia center. Zócalo Public Square Poetry Prize

Las Angeles-based ideas magazine Zócal Public Square is open for submissions for their 6th annual poetry prize . They are searching for a U.S. poet whose poem best evokes a connection to place.
