The Think-Write-Publish Science and Religion Project is currently offering twelve $10,000 two-year fellowships. Fellows participate in three intensive workshops focusing on developing, writing, marketing, and publishing their creative nonficiton stories about harmonies between science and religion. DHChicago, in collaboration with the Macroanalysis and the Humanities Working Group, is accepting proposals for their digital humanities conference, “New Archival Knowledges,” being held at the University of Chicago May 19-20. DHChicago seeks to bring together scholars from across the Chicagoland area and across disciplines to present work on macroanalysis, or the computational analysis of textual data and metadata. Submissions for the Luminarts Fellowship for excellence in creative writing are due this Friday, May 6th. Writers submit two pages of stand-alone work or an excerpt in categories of poetry or prose and have the opportunity to win $5,000. Dr. Lisa Lowe, Professor of English and American Studies at Tufts University will be the speaking on campus Wednesday, May 18th in the John T. Richardson library Room 115. Lowe is the author of multiple books including her latest The Intimacies of Four Continents (2015), a study of settler colonialism, transatlantic African slavery and the East Indies and China trades in goods and people as the conditions for modern European liberalism and empire. A final reminder that the 7th Annual Spring English Conference will be held Friday, April 29th from 10:00 am to 4:15pm on the 4th floor of Arts and Letters Hall. The conference is unique opportunity to engage in the academic and creative work of your DePaul English peers and is an important part of fostering communication within the DePaul English community.
