Submit Now! LAS Interdisciplinary Graduate Student Conference

Another reminder that the deadline to submit to the the Third Annual LAS Interdisciplinary Graduate Student Conference is this Friday, January 15th. The conference takes place Friday, March 4 from 12:00-5:00 pm on the Lincoln Park Campus. Find further details and the submission link here. All LAS graduate students are eligible. This conference is an opportunity to share your work with other students and faculty across departments and programs. Reminder: Graduate Assistant Applications Due Friday

A final reminder that Friday, January 15th is the due date for graduate assistantship applications! Each spring, the English Department awards a limited number of graduate assistanships for the upcoming academic year. Graduate assistantships carry full tuition for up to eight graduate-level courses taken for credit towards your degree during the academic year (up to 12 courses over two years if the award is renewed) and a stipend of $7,500, payable September through May. The Open Door Readings with Chris Green and Dylan Weir

The Poetry Foundation continues there Open Door Reading Series this January with readings from DePaul’s MAWP Professor Chris Green and student Dylan Weir. The event takes place January 19th at 7:00 pm at the Poetry Foundation, 61 West Superior Street. Admission is free and open to the public! University of Amherst Graduate Conference, “Putting History to Work”

The Graduate History Department of the University of Massachusetts Amherst is now welcoming proposals for its 2016 interdisciplinary conference, “Putting History to Work.” The conference invites submissions across a range of fields, themes, and historical periods. It will be held from March 5-6 and includes a panel discussion with Jim Grossman the Executive Director of the American Historical Society as well as a networking dinner for conference presenters. Midwestern Conference on Literature, Language, and Media at Northern Illinois

The 24th annual Midwestern Conference on Literature, Langauage and Media (MCLLM) is currently accepting proposals for 15 minute research presentations. MCLLM encourages proposals from a broad range of topics, particularly ones that explore the conferences 2016 theme: Keep the Change. The Big Moose Prize from Black Lawrence Press

The final deadline for Black Lawrence Press’s annual prize for unpublished novels, The Big Moose Prize, is fast apporaching. The prize is open to new and emerging as well as established writers. The contest winner will receive book publication, a $1,000 cash award, and ten copies of the book. The entry period closes on January 31st. Indiana University’s Comparative Literature Graduate Conference, “Crystal Queer”

Residency Opportunity with Tent: Creative Writing

Now in it its fourth year, Tent: Creative Writing welcomes aspiring and practicing writers to the Yiddish Book Center in Amherst, Massachusetts, to workshop, read, and talk about craft and literary history. Tent: Creative Writing is a free week of workshops, literary seminars, and conversations for twenty writers of fiction, non-fiction, and poetry, in their twenties and early thirties, who are curious about connections between Jewishness and contemporary culture. Study Creative Writing in Northern Ireland

The Institute for Education in International Media (ieiMedia) is an independent study abroad service currently accepting students for their creative writing program in Armagh, Ireland. The program takes place this summer from July 1st to the 31st in Armagh, one of Ireland’s oldest cities. The program is searching for students in the fields of creative writing, communications, playwriting, theatre studies, Irish studies, literature, poetry, and story telling. 2016 Raynes Poetry Prize from Jewish Currents

Magazine Jewish Currents: Activist Politics and Art, is accepting submissions for the 2016 Raynes Poetry Competition. Poets can submit up to three poems related to this years theme “Urge.” The first prize is $1,000, with two runners-up receiving $180. The submission fee is $18 which includes a 1-year subscription to the magazine. Submissions are due January 15th. Further information maybe found on the contest webpage or on the flyer below
