The deadline for submissions and abstracts to the 25th annual Midwestern Conference on Literature, Language and Media (MCLLM) is at the end of this month, Friday, January 27! Hosted annually by Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL, MCLLM is seeking proposals for 15-minute paper from individuals and panels on humanities research – especially graduate student submissions. The Fourth Annual Interdisciplinary LAS Graduate Student Conference is happening this spring and the deadline to submit is fast approaching! The conference takes place March 3 on the Lincoln Park Campus and is an opportunity for graduate students from across the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences to showcase their work and interact with work from students across departments. Students may propose individual papers or poster presentations. Creative Nonfiction and Issues in Science and Technology are currently seeking submissions for their joint writing contest aimed at exploring and expanding the dialogue between religion and science. The contest is seeking original narratives, creative nonfiction pieces, and research work with a narrative focus. Essays should be unpublished and no longer than 5,000 words. There is a $20 reading fee. Prizes include $10,000 first place, $5,000 runner-up, five $500 honorable mentions, and publication for winning essays. Submissions are due Monday, December 12.
