The Crambo is accepting submissions! The Crambo welcomes submissions of poetry, short fiction, creative nonfiction, screenplays, cartoons, short graphic fiction, and visual art. Graduate students from any university are welcome to submit. All work must be original, previously unpublished, and in English. They do not accept simultaneous submissions. The fourteenth Anthony Hecht Poetry Prize is open for submissions. Anyone over the age of 18 who has not already published more than one full-length poetry collection may submit. The winner will receive a purse of $3000, and his or her collection will be published by Waywiser in the USA and the UK in the fall of 2019. CALYX is looking for new and emerging poets from different demographics. The winner will receive $300 cash and publication in CALYX Journal Vol. 31:2, Winter 2019. Three runners-up will receive a one-issue subscription and publication on the CALYX website. The contest runs from now through June 30, 2018 and is open to any theme or subject. Please submit up to 3 poems (6 pages maximum) of unpublished poetry (both online and hard copy submissions are accepted). There is a $15 reading fee. Twice each year Black Lawrence Press will run the Black River Chapbook Competition for an unpublished chapbook of poems or short fiction between 16-36 pages in length. The contest is open to new, emerging, and established writers. The winner will receive book publication, a $500 cash award, and ten copies of the book. Prizes are awarded on publication. The deadline for submissions to the 2018 John R. Milton Writers’ Conference at the University of South Dakota has been extended to June 1, 2018.  Additional information about speakers and registration is available at: www.usd.edu/miltonconference.   This year’s conference theme is “This Lonely Frontier: Exploring Boundaries of Space, Identity, and Genre,” and confirmed keynote and featured speakers include Percival Everett, Ellen Forney, Karen Salyer McElmurray, and Erika Wurth.

Gulf Coast: A Journal of Literature and Fine Arts, is currently accepting submissions for the annual Gulf Coast Prize contests!  There are three all-star final judges, including Chen Chen (Poetry), Joshua Ferris (Fiction), and Lacy M. Johnson (Nonfiction). The contest awards publication and $1,500 each to the best poem, essay, and short story, as well as $250 to two honorable mentions in each genre.
