The Kenyon Review is accepting submissions of up to 1,200 words for its 2015 Short Fiction Contest. The submission deadline is February 28, 2015. The $18 entry fee includes a one-year subscription to the journal. Writers may enter their work here. The Kenyon Review will publish the winning short story in the Jan/Feb 2016 issue, and the author will receive a scholarship to attend the 2015 Kenyon Review Writers Workshop (Session I: June 13–20) in Gambier, Ohio.

Each year, Black Lawrence Press awards the Hudson Prize for an unpublished collection of poems or short stories. The winner of this contest receives book publication, a $1,000 award, and ten copies of the book. The submission deadline for the 2015 Hudson Prize is March 31, 2015. The PEN American Center is accepting submissions for its new PEN/Fusion Emerging Writers Prize, which will recognize an unpublished work of nonfiction that addresses a global and/or multicultural issue. Young writers (younger than 35) who have had at least one prior publication in a national magazine or journal may submit their work. The winner will receive a $10,000 prize. The submission deadline is February 27, 2015. This year’s judges are John Freeman, Roxane Gay, and Cristina Henríquez.

Arch Street Press is accepting fiction and nonfiction submissions of up to 10,000 words for its annual Arch Street Prize. US college and graduate students aged 18–30 may enter the competition. Each winner will receive a book contract, mentoring program, and $1,000 cash prize. The submission deadline is April 24, 2015.

The submission period for the annual Crazyhorse Prizes in Fiction, Nonfiction, and Poetry is drawing to a close this Saturday, January 31, 2015.  Writers may submit short stories or essays (25 pages max) or up to three poems. The $20 entry fee includes a one-year Crazyhorse subscription. Each winner will receive $2,000 and publication.

The Nelligan Prize for Short Fiction is open to submissions of previously unpublished short stories (50 pages max). The winner will receive $2,000 and publication in the 2015 fall/winter issue of the Colorado Review. The submission deadline is March 14, 2015.  Writers may submit their pieces here for a $15 fee per story ($17/story for online submissions).

Narrative magazine is accepting fiction and nonfiction submissions for its winter 2015 story contest. The contest deadline is March 31, 2015, at midnight (PDT). Contest entrants may submit their work for a $22 fee, which includes three months of complimentary access to Narrative Backstage.

The Nazim Hikmet Poetry Competition is accepting submissions. Entrants may submit their poems here. The deadline is January 31, 2015. Winners will receive $100 each and an invitation to read their poems at the seventh annual Nazim Hikmet Poetry Festival.

The 2015 Bristol Short Story Prize is now accepting entries. Stories must be previously unpublished and may be on any theme or subject. The maximum length is 4,000 words. The closing date for entries is midnight (BST) on April 30, 2015. Writers may submit their stories online or by post. The 2015 judging panel—chaired by Sara Davies—also includes Rowan Lawton, Sanjida O’Connell, and Nikesh Shukla. .  

Columbia: A Journal of Literature & Art is accepting original work in fiction, nonfiction, and poetry for its annual writing competition. One winner in each category will receive a $500 cash prize and publication in Issue 53, due out this spring. The submission deadline is December 1, 2014.
