Sign up for a three-week intensive seminar in writing and translating poetry!  The instructors are Janet Holmes and Clyde Moneyhun, from the MFA program at Boise State University. Jane is a prolific poet and editor of the award-winning Ahsahta Press. Clyde is a translator of contemporary Catalan and Spanish poetry. The Oxford American is now offering a literary fellowship designed to support the writing of a debut book of creative nonfiction. the fellowship offers the winner a $10,000 living stipend, housing, and an editorial apprenticeship with the Oxford American toward a nine-month residency in the thriving creative community of Central Arkansas in Little Rock. Complete applications will include 300-500 word book proposal, a 300-500 word statement of interest in magazine editorial work, a creative nonfiction writing sample of no more than 12,000 words excerpted from the proposed project, and a curriculum vitae. Tent: Creative Writing is a free week of workshops, literary seminars, and conversations for twenty writers of fiction, nonfiction, and poetry for writers curious about connections between Jewishness and contemporary culture. The program runs July 16-23, and will be lead by Sam Lipsyte (ficiton), Lisa Olstein (poetry), and Eileen Pollack (nonfiction). Those interested must submit an application online here. The deadline to apply for scholarships to the Minnesota Northwoods Writers Conference is approaching! Official conference applications are due May 1, but scholarship applications are due February 20. The conference takes place this summer June 19-25, at Bemidji State University in small town northern Minnesota. The conference fee is $550, however, several $300 scholarships will be awarded based upon need and literary merit. Apply for scholarships online here. The Summer Literary Seminars (SLS) are now open for submissions to their 2017 contests in fiction and poetry. The contests offer writers and opportunity to win full funding for SLS programs in Georgia and Kenya as well as publication in Fence Magazine. The entry fee is $17 and the deadline is February 28. The Armagh Project from ieiMedia offers students to study creative writing in the beautiful town in Northern Ireland from July 2 to July 30. Students learn and practice skills in their chosen field while sharing with each other through travel, readings, class activities and guest speakers. Students have classes at the AmmA Centre, a technologically enhanced multimedia center. Students will also spend a week at Glebe House in County Down and visit Belfast, with an optional trip to Dublin. The Think-Write-Publish Science and Religion Project is currently offering twelve $10,000 two-year fellowships. Fellows participate in three intensive workshops focusing on developing, writing, marketing, and publishing their creative nonficiton stories about harmonies between science and religion. Applications are due on April 22 for the 2016 Mailer Poetry Fellowship. Hosted by The Norman Mailer Center and The Norman Mailer Writers Colony, the fellowship this year will take place July 9 to July 31 at the prestigious Pepperdine University campus in Malibu, California. DePaul professor Miles Harvey will be one of the faculty at the University of New Orleans’ creative writing workshops in Cork, Ireland this summer. The program takes place June 17 – July 16. Find out more information on the flyer below, or visit the program’s website here.

Submissions are open until March 31 for the Florida Keys Flash Fiction Contest. The contest winner will receive $1,500 air travel card and accommodations in a residency cottage at The Studios of Key West between July 5 and July 31. A $500 stipend as well as passes and admission to various events during the Hemingway Days festival set for July 19-25. Ten of the residency days include an opportunity to write in the colonial estate that Hemingway lived and worked in throughout most of the 1930’s.
