Congratulations are in order for English Professor Kathleen Rooney and WRD Professor Eric Plattner, co-editors of the soon to be released René Magritte: Selected Writings! The book collects letters, interviews, and more from modern master René Magritte translating them to English for the first time. In preparation for the official September 22nd event, Kathleen and Eric will be hosting two promotional events. The Department of English Open House will take place on Wednesday, September 14 from 4:30 to 6:30 pm in Arts and Letters Hall 210. Learn about advising resources, internships, publishing opportunities, and answer questions about other department programs. A big congrats to Kathleen Rooney and Michele Morano who were both recipients of 2016 excellence in teaching awards! James Murphy also recently accepted the position of Visiting Professor of Irish Studies and  Interim Director of Irish Programs at Boston College for the 2016-17 year. DePaul and the Department of English are proud to announce the launch of the 36th annual edition of Crook & Folly! This year’s launch will take place at the DePaul Art Museum on Thursday, May 26th from 5-6pm.   Professor Richard Squibbs will be conducting an Information Session for the Capstone Portfolio Requirement and Thesis Option on Saturday, April 23 in SAC 232. From 10:00- 11:00, he will explain the requirements for the Portfolio, describe how to submit your Portfolio materials using Digication, and answer any questions that you might have. From 11:00-12:00 he will discuss the Thesis Option with those students who choose it as a Final Requirement. MAWP student Christopher Flynn has won the 2016 Writer’s Studio Student Prize, which includes $500 and the opportunity to read his work at Printers Row Lit Fest on Saturday, June 11. Congratulations Christopher!

The deadline for applying for Spring ’16 Degree Conferral was February 1, 2016. This information was sent to all graduate students in the English Department via email, posted in Ex Libris, on our website and on the monitor on the second floor of Arts & Letters right outside of the English Department. The LA&S Graduate Student Services Office also sent out an email to all graduate students in the College with the information and it is posted on their website, as well.
