Good afternoon, everyone! For our next visiting author, we’re excited to welcome Eric Puchner to our Lincoln Park campus! His book Dream State was recently chosen as Oprah’s Book Club’s Book of the Month and was selected as Book of the Week by People and The New York Times, among many other accolades. We frequently keep you updated on calls for submissions from other journals and institutions; but today, we’re very excited to announce that we are now accepting submissions to the English department’s very own Spring English Conference! Upcoming Event: James Baldwin Presentation and Performance (2/27)

“James Baldwin At 100” will be held at DePaul’s Theatre School (2350 North Racine Ave.) from 5:00 to 7:00 PM next Thursday, February 27. In addition to presentations by Ashli Rene Funches and keynote speaker Dr. Darrell Moore, students from DePaul’s Theatre School will perform excerpts from Baldwin’s “Sonny’s Blues: A Short Story.” Tickets are free, though reservations are encouraged.
