Charles Adler, co-founder of Kickstarter and founder of Lost Arts, keynotes the Coleman Center’s October 6 event designed to help DePaul students in the arts and creative industries identify ways to work in their fields. Panelists following the keynote come from the visual arts, writing, photography, music, fashion design, and other industries. From the Newberry Center for Renaissance Studies: January 25 to 27, 2018 We invite abstracts for 20-minute papers from master’s or PhD students from any discipline on any medieval, Renaissance, or early modern topic in Europe, the Americas, or the Mediterranean world. Congratulations to MAE Mihaela Stoica who will be presenting a paper on ambivalent masculinity in James Tiptree, Jr’s novella “Huston, Houston, Do You Read?” at the 2017 Science Fiction Research Association annual conference. The five day conference hosted by the University of California at Riverside takes place from June 27 to July 1 with the theme “Unknown Pasts/Unseen Futures.” Find a full schedule of presenters is available here. The American Writers Museum, which opened Thursday in downtown Chicago, is offering special free entry to DePaul English students. The museum will be hosting WGN’s TV’s Around Town and during the session from 7:45 AM to 10:00 AM this Friday, May 26 when it is offering the free admission. The launch for Crook & Folly’s 37th edition will be Thursday, May 25! The event will celebrate the latest release of DePaul’s award winning journal of art and literature.
