On Friday, October 31, story aficionados can celebrate Halloween with 7 Stories: Bird Eat Bird at Martinʼs Corner Bar in Pilsen (2056 West 22nd Place). Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 9 p.m.  What to Expect: Emerging writers share their stories in collaborative performances that incorporate live music and visual projection. During intermission, audience members can come onstage to tell brief unscripted stories and compete for free beer. There will also be a costume contest with a cash prize. Congratulations to DePaul’s own Eric Houghton, Libby Kalmbach, Thom Kudla, Matthew Morley, Aaron Osborne, Lauren T. Silverman, and Kendall Steinle! The Chicago Center for Literature and Photography selected their work for its 2014 collection, Chicago After Dark: A City All-Star Student Anthology, published this autumn. Readings will be taking place around the city. The upcoming citywide release party honors all 31 contributors to the anthology. As part of DePaul’s Honors Program Lecture Series, Fern Schumer Chapman will discuss a memoir that details her family’s experience with war and loss.
