The Visiting Writers Program will be celebrating the release of MAWP graduate Jessica Chiarella’s debut novel And Again. Chiarella will be on campus to read and discuss her work. The event takes place on Tuesday, January 26 at 6:00 pm in Richardson Library Room 115. Chiarella is a Vernon Hills native who graduated from DePaul in 2014. Currently she is enrolled in the University of California, Riverside’s MFA program. In And Again, Chiarella explores the impact of a miracle cure on the lives of terminally-ill patients. The Department of English Visiting Writers Program will be hosting Vu Tran on Thursday, October 29 at 6 pm in the Richardson Library Room 115. He will be reading from his debut novel Dragonfish. Vu Tran was born in Saigon, Vietnam in 1975 and grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma. DePaul’s Visiting Writers Program will be hosting Chicago authors John McNally and Cyn Vargas on Tuesday, October 6th at 6pm in the John T. Richardson Library Room 115.
In a literary event marking the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, Fredrick Barton reads from his new book In The Wake of the Flagship, a blistering satire chronicling one man’s battle against bureaucracy and corruption in the aftermath of a devastating hurricane. The Visiting Writers Series hosts the event on Tuesday, Sept. 22 at 6:00 pm in the Rosati Room 300 of the John T. Richardson Library 2350 N. Kenmore Avenue.
