The University of Chicago Press is hosting a book launch event for I’ll Tell You Mine: Thirty Years of Essays from the Iowa Nonfiction Writing Program. DePaul’s Philosophy Department invites students to their Workshop on Trauma, Memory, and Representation taking place on Thursday and Friday, November 12th and 13th in the Richardson Library Room 400.     The workshop will conclude on Friday evening with a performance of the play Maximum Security and concurrent roundtable discussion from 4:00-6:00 pm at the event room in the DePaul Art Museum. Veterans from the book and actors from DePaul’s Theater School will read memories from the book. Refreshments will be served, books will be available. The Writer is now accepting fiction submissions for their “Two Roads Diverge” short story contest. The contest asks for a 2,000 word short story responding to two quotes from novelist Colum McCann who will be the contest judge. Prizes include: $1,000 cash prize for the winner and publication in March 2016 print issue of The Writer, runner-up and third place will receive cash prize of $500 and $250 respectively and publication on The Writer‘s website. The literary magazine of Rowan University’s Master of Arts in Writing graduate program, Glassworks is now accepting submissions for their fall 2016 print issues. Glassworks publishes nonfiction, ficiton poetry, hybrid pieces, craft essays, new media, and art both digitally and in print. The deadline to submit is December 15, 2015. Submission guidelines can be found here. Glassworks also publishes flash fiction, prose poetry, and micro essays in their online edition Flash Glass Monthly which accepts submissions on a year-round rolling basis.

  RHINO, an award-winning annual print journal with significant online content is now accepting submissions for their 2016 Founders’ Contest. The winner receives $500 with two runners-up receiving $5o. All submissions considered for publication; $10 reading fee for up to 5 poems, no more than 5 pages. The deadline to submit is October 31, 2015. They invite traditional or experimental work reflecting passion, originality, artistic conviction, and a love affair with language.
