Paula McQuade: Literary Studies Speakers Event

Professor Paula McQuade kicks off the Department of English Literary Studies Speaker Series! On Friday, September 18 from 11:00 to 12:30 in Arts & Letters Hall room 313, Professor McQuade will present “‘As Say Historians’: Prophecy, Orality, and Community in Mary Cary’s The Resurrection of the Witnesses (1653),” material from her recently completed book, Women and Catechisms in Seventeenth-Century England. Professor McQuade studies the literature of the English Renaissance, with particular focus on religion and gender in early modern drama and in early modern women writers. Chicago Tribune in Conversation with Judy Blume on Wednesday, June 17

Judy Blume will be in Chicago on Wednesday, June 17, at 7 p.m. to discuss her latest book, In the Unlikely Event, with Chicago Tribune columnist Heidi Stevens. The event, presented by the Chicago Tribune Printers Row series and the Chicago Humanities Festival, will take place in the Diane and David B Heller Auditorium at Francis W. Poetry Foundation Media Internship (Deadline: 6/30/15)

The Poetry Foundation is looking for a media intern. Responsibilities include proofreading, creating event announcements, and updating media and community lists. Depending on the applicant’s experience in digital culture, the intern may help maintain the Poetry Foundation’s social media outlets. The application deadline is June 30, 2015. *** DePaulians chosen for the internship can receive academic credit by registering for ENG 509, the English department’s online internship course. DePaul assistant professor, Humanities Center 2014–2015 faculty fellow, and Slag Glass City editor Barrie Jean Borich will host Write ON Chicago/HERE is WHERE this Sunday, June 7, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Comfort Station in Logan Square (2579 North Milwaukee Avenue).
