Glimmer Train‘s Family Matters contest is looking for stories of up to 12,000 words “about families of all configurations.” The submission deadline is March 31, 2015. The reading fee is $15 per story.
The Theatre School at DePaul is hosting the panel discussion August Wilson at Yale on Monday, March 23, at 7 p.m. on the Fullerton Stage. The event is free and open to the public, but reservations are recommended. The event is part of Goodman Theatre‘s citywide August Wilson Celebration, which includes concert readings, panel discussions, special events, and a revival of Wilson’s Two Trains Running.
Congratulations to Tim Hillegonds, MAWP ’14, who placed his piece “Along the Front Range” in the March issue of Bluestem. Also, a belated congratulations to Chris Lites, MAWP ’12, who published a profile of science fiction writer William Gibson in Slate in December of 2014.

This January I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to attend the ALA (American Library Association) Midwinter Conference, which was held right here in Chicago.
