Anxious About Climate Change? Take Solace In Art At THE DEAD ZOO Poem-Film and Conversation!

Join us at The Dead Zoo film and reading on Tuesday, October 22, from 6:30 – 7:30, at DePaul’s Cortelyou Commons (2324 N. Fremont Street), for DePaul’s Sustainability Month! A 20-minute film based on Prof. Chris Green’s sonnet crown The Dead Zoo (poems from the perspective of endangered or extinct animals, plants, and places) will play silently while other poets help him read the sonnets. Fellowship Opportunity: Eudora Welty Fellowship

The Mississippi Department of Archives and History is accepting applications for the 2025 Eudora Welty Research Fellowship. Offered in partnership with the Eudora Welty Foundation, this annual fellowship awards a $5,000 stipend to one graduate student to conduct research using the Eudora Welty Collection at MDAH for two weeks during the summer. Call for Submissions to Catamaran Literary Reader!

Catamaran accepts fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, and visual art. Themes they are especially interested in are science and nature writing, creativity and the artistic process, personal journey and travel, and innovation; any setting is fine, but the West Coast is of particular interest. There is an $8 reading fee for general submissions. The Missouri Review‘s 34th Annual Jeffrey E. Smith Editors’ Prize is accepting submissions through Tuesday, October 1!
