Call for Submissions: Dynamo Verlag Book Contest

Dynamo Verlag, a boutique publisher of poetry and fiction, has launched its first-ever book contest. The winning manuscript will be published by Dynamo Verlag in Autumn 2021 and its author will receive a $500 advance against book royalties. The contest is open to authors of book-length manuscripts of poetry or prose who have not published more than one (1) full length book in their primary genre (this does not include self-published works). The Spring English Conference is going virtual this year!

In lieu of our annual in-person Spring English conference, the English department is now accepting submissions from students for a new 2020 Spring English Conference online launching June 1! This is an excellent opportunity for students to showcase their work and to share it with a positive, supportive community of DePaul faculty and peers. Partial Tuition Scholarship Deadline is April 24th

The M.A. in English and M.A. in Writing and Publishing programs are offering Partial Tuition Scholarships (PTS) to recognize the outstanding academic achievement of students in the English department’s two graduate programs. Partial Tuition Scholarships provide a partial reimbursement for tuition paid for 2020 Spring graduate courses in English taken toward the MAE and MAWP degrees. Deadline Extended: Miller Audio Prize from Missouri Review

The 13th Annual Miller Audio Competition has been extended through April 30. Prizes remain the same: the winner in each category of Poetry, Prose, Audio Documentary, and Humor receives $1,000 along with publication on Missouri Review‘s website and promotion on their social media platforms. Runners-up in each category will also have their work published on the website in the summer of 2020. Congrats to Kathleen Rooney!

Congratulations to our very own Kathleen Rooney, who has received a Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) Grant from the City of Chicago! The grant will support Kathleen’s visit to the Margaret Herrick Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Library in Los Angeles to research a novel when it is safe to travel again. Kudos!

Fellowship Opportunity: Miami Book Fair

Miami Book Fair is offering fellowships in Fiction, Poetry, and Nonfiction to support writers working to complete a book-length project within a year. The fellowships include a $41K stipend, mentorship with a nationally established author, and strong literacy community support in Miami. There is no application fee. Call for Submissions: Boyfriend Village

In the interest of being more accessible during this time, Black Warrior Review is making Secret Boyfriend (the latest edition of their online magazine, Boyfriend Village) open to FREE submissions until Wednesday, March 25 at 11:59 pm. Boyfriend Village accepts fiction, poetry, nonfiction, hybrid, visual, and multimedia art, as well as sound collage, video, games, and more.
