The Creative Writing Fellowship awards two $7,500 Luminarts Fellowships for excellence in creative writing in the categories of prose and poetry, in fiction and nonfiction. Applicants submit a two-page written piece (either a stand-alone piece or an excerpt of a larger piece such as a novel or short story). Entries are submitted and reviewed by an initial panel of jurors. Young Chicago Authors puts on the largest poetry slam festival in the world, Louder Than A Bomb (LTAB) during the months of February and March. Based on the success of LTAB, they have extended the competition and community to young adults ages 18-25 and created Louder Than a Bomb University (LTABU). The competition runs March 8th and 9th 2019 at Chicago State University.   Cagibi is a journal of poetry & prose that has garnered praise in its first year for its quarterly online issues, publishing emerging writers side by side with our literary heroes. Submissions are now being accepted for CAGIBI’s inaugural Macaron Prize. Chicago Shakespeare Theater is currently seeking applicants for part- or full-time internships during the summer of 2019. This internship provides the opportunity to devote a number of weeks to researching a play—its historical and social contexts, its publication and production history, and its critical history—and to develop resources for hundreds of educators who will teach the play over the school year in conjunction with our upcoming production.
