The University of New Orleans Writing Workshops Abroad invites undergraduate and graduate students at DePaul to apply for a summer of scholarship and cultural activities in Cork, Ireland. CWIP is hosting an informal dialogue with Doug Seibold, President of Agate Publishing, at EvolveHer on Wednesday, February 20 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Doug Seibold is an integral part of the Chicagoland publishing community and has a wealth of knowledge from working in trade, educational, and nonprofit publishing and media for over thirty years. He founded Agate in 2003, started Agate Development in 2005, acquired Surrey Books in 2006, and created the Agate Digital and Midway Books imprints in 2012. The M.A. in English and M.A. in Writing and Publishing programs are offering Partial Tuition Scholarships (PTS) to recognize the outstanding academic achievement of students in the English department’s two graduate programs. Partial Tuition Scholarships provide a partial reimbursement for tuition paid for 2019 winter graduate courses in English taken toward the MAE and MAWP degrees.

The Writers’ League of Texas is holding a manuscript contest, with the winners in 10 categories receiving a registration to the 2019 Agents & Editors Conference ($400 value) and a one-on-one consultation with the agent who selected their manuscript as the winner. The conference is June 28-30 in Austin, TX, and brings 20-25 agents and editors to downtown Austin for three days of panels, presentations, and one-on-one consultations. SLAB is announcing a final call for fresh voices to publish in their literary magazine. SLAB is published annually by the English Department of Slippery Rock University, and they are currently seeking entrants for the Elizabeth R. Curry Poetry Contest. Kathy Fagan will be the judge for this year and the first-place winner will receive $600, publication in SLAB, and a limited edition, hand-bound chapbook of the winner’s poetry.
