The deadline for applications to Campus 1871 has been extended to this Friday, February 10. The weekend-long event takes place from March 31- April 2 and will be attended by universities across the Illinois and the Chicagoland area. The deadline to apply for scholarships to the Minnesota Northwoods Writers Conference is approaching! Official conference applications are due May 1, but scholarship applications are due February 20. The conference takes place this summer June 19-25, at Bemidji State University in small town northern Minnesota. The conference fee is $550, however, several $300 scholarships will be awarded based upon need and literary merit. Apply for scholarships online here. DePaul’s award-winning arts and literature magazine Crook & Folly is now accepting submissions for their 2017 issue! Crook & Folly is accepting submissions of poetry, fiction, flash fiction, creative non-fiction, and dramatic literature. Submissions and questions can be sent to crookandfolly@gmail.com.  

Chicago Women in Publishing is sponsoring an event focusing on e-book publishing on Wednesday, February 15. The event will focus on an authors perspective and advice for writers on the process of getting a work published digitally.  The event takes place at the US Bank Building (190 S. Las Angeles-based ideas magazine Zócal Public Square is open for submissions for their 6th annual poetry prize . They are searching for a U.S. poet whose poem best evokes a connection to place. The winner will receive $500 and will be published by Zócal online. There is no registration fee and entrants can send up to three poems. The deadline is February 3. Find out more and submit online.
