Thursday, January 8. Stimulate, Create & Submit: Attendees can kick-start their writing at 826CHI from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Come in with nothing; leave with a short piece and a submission plan for 2015. In January, the Reader will publish its 15th annual Pure Fiction issue, a collection of short stories submitted by mostly local fiction writers paired with illustrations by mostly local artists. The submission deadline is November 15. Submit stories of up to 3,000 words to fiction@chicagoreader.com. The Reader accepts multiple submissions and pays writers for the stories it publishes.
