Glimmer Train‘s Very Short Fiction Award is now accepting submissions. This contest welcomes any story of up to 3,000 words that has not been accepted for print publication. The reading fee is $15 per story. The prizes are as follows: • First place: $1,500, publication in Glimmer Train Stories, and 20 copies of that issue • Second place: $500 (or, if accepted for publication, $700 and 10 copies) • Third place: $300 (or, if accepted for publication, $700 and 10 copies) The submission deadline is April 30, 2015.
The Writer’s “An Ocean of Possibility” short story contest is now accepting submissions of 1,000-word fiction stories. Crook & Folly, DePaul’s literary magazine, seeks submissions of fiction, creative nonfiction, micro prose, poetry, and dramatic literature. The submission deadline is February 23. Students can send their work to crookandfolly@gmail.com. Crook & Folly is holding a micro prose event this Thursday, January 15, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Arts & Letters Hall, Room 303. The Conium Review’s Flash Fiction Contest is currently seeking submissions. The submission deadline is December 15, 2014. This year’s judge is Ashley Farmer, author of Beside Myself (Tiny Hardcore Press) and Farm Town (Rust Belt Bindery). The winning writer receives $300, a copy of the judge’s latest book, online publication, and publication as a limited-run broadside or micro-chap for distribution at the 2015 AWP Conference.

The Dublin Review of Books is pleased to announce its second Flash Fiction Contest. The prize will bring recognition to distinguished flash fiction writing from within Ireland and around the world.
