This Monday, writer Lois Leveen will be speaking at an event sponsored by The Department of Writing, Rhetoric, and Discourse and the Department of African and Black Diaspora Studies. Leveen is the author of The Secrets of Mary Bowser, a recent novel about a historical figure, Mary Bowser, a freed slave who later became a Union spy. Leveen’s talk, entitled “Telling Secrets: Mary Bowser, Race, Gender, and American History,” will take place this Monday, January 28th, at 4 p.m. in the Rosati Room (room 300) of the Richardson Library.
