DePaul graduate students and alumni can register for DePaul’s eighth annual Career Week—a series of networking events, webinars, workshops, and other professional development opportunities—here. Career Week takes place on the Loop and Lincoln Park campuses as well as via the interwebs. Most Career Week activities are free. One notable exception is the Networking Happy Hour at BlackFinn Ameripub in River North. The $15 registration fee for the February 12 event covers appetizers and two drink tickets. Current MAWP and MAE students who sign up for a volunteer shift at ASJA’s Content Connections Chicago 2014 (November 13–14, 2014) can attend for free. ConCon attendees will have many opportunities to network with freelancers, gain insights into building their professional platforms, and meet companies all over the Midwest hiring freelance writers. Contact Professor Rebecca Johns-Trissler at rjohnstr@depaul.edu for information on volunteer shifts. The first 20 students who sign up will receive a free conference registration. Dinner on DePaul is a free dinner event in which DePaul invites 3 alumni in a specific professional field to have a roundtable Q&A with 15-20 students who are interested in that industry. The MAE and MAWP programs are offering Partial Tuition Scholarships (PTS) to recognize outstanding academic achievement of students in the English department’s two graduate programs. Partial Tuition Scholarships provide a partial reimbursement for tuition paid for 2011 autumn graduate courses in English taken toward the MAE and MAWP degrees.
