Rebecca Johns’s first novel, Icebergs, was a finalist for the 2007 Hemingway Foundation/PEN Award for first fiction and a recipient of the Michener-Copernicus Award. Her second, The Countess, is forthcoming in October from Crown Books. Her work has appeared or is forthcoming in Ploughshares, the Harvard Review, the Mississippi Review, the Chicago Tribune, Cosmopolitan, Mademoiselle, Ladies’ Home Journal, Self, and Seventeen, among others. A graduate of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop and the Missouri School of Journalism, she is thrilled to join the English Department at DePaul. Professor David Welch has been on the English Department faculty since 2008, but he is teaching his first graduate class this year. David Welch is a recipient of the Hill-Kohn Prize from the Academy of American Poets and former Poetry Editor of Black Warrior Review. His poems have appeared in journals including AGNI Online, Kenyon Review Online, and Subtropics, as well as the anthologies Best New Poets 2007, Best of the Web 2010, and Helen Burns Poetry Anthology: New Voices from the Academy of American Poets University & College Prizes, 1999-2008.
