Writing Opportunity

Miracle Monocle is a journal of innovative literary and visual art funded by the University of Louisville. The winner of this new award series will receive a $200 prize and publication in the journal. Poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, and experimental/hybrid literature are all welcome. Writers must identify as Black and be 25 years of age or younger. Entry to the competition will be free and facilitated through Duotrope’s new Duosuma system. Submissions will re-open in January. Crab Orchard Review, the literary journal of Southern Illinois University Carbondale, is accepting submissions from graduate and undergraduate students for the Charles Johnson Fiction Award, the Rafael Torch Literary Nonfiction Award, and the Allison Joseph Poetry Award. The winner in each category will receive $1,000 and publication. There is a $5 entry fee. The submission deadline is this Friday (February 20, 2015).
