Nowhere Magazine, a literary travel-writing publication, is now open for submissions to their Fall contests! Founded in 2008, Nowhere awards two authors per year $1,000 each for their winning entry into their spring and fall writing contests. Miami University in Ohio to invites students to submit to OxMag, their graduate student-run literary magazine. They are seeking submissions of art, poetry, fiction, and nonfiction, with a particular interest in those voices who have been traditionally underrepresented. Submissions are open until October 15th. Ready your pens and keyboards—it’s submission season!   Subito Press, a small non-profit publishing company established by the University of Colorado Boulder’s creative writing department, is currently holding a contest for book-length works of poetry or prose and are in their last push for submissions. The 29th Jeffrey E. Smith Editors’ Prize competition is now open for submissions in fiction, poetry, and nonfiction. First-place winners in each category receive $5000, feature publication in the spring issue, and are honored at a gala reading and reception in Columbia, Missouri. Contest finalists are often published in the magazine also, or, in the case of poetry, as part of Missouri Review‘s Poem of the Week online feature. Glassworks is accepting submissions through December 15, 2019!   Glassworks, the literary magazine of Rowan University’s Master of Arts in Writing graduate program, publishes nonfiction, fiction, poetry, hybrid pieces, and artwork both digitally and in print. They are currently reading for spring and fall 2020 print issues. They also publish flash fiction, prose poetry, and micro essays monthly in their online edition Flash Glass. The Southeast Review’s Annual World’s Best Short-Short Story Contest + Gearhart Poetry Contest are now open for submissions! The winner in each category receives $500 and publication in Issue 38.1! Finalists will be published as well in Issue 38.1, and all participants will receive a complimentary copy of the issue. SLAB is announcing a final call for fresh voices to publish in their literary magazine. SLAB is published annually by the English Department of Slippery Rock University, and they are currently seeking entrants for the Elizabeth R. Curry Poetry Contest. Kathy Fagan will be the judge for this year and the first-place winner will receive $600, publication in SLAB, and a limited edition, hand-bound chapbook of the winner’s poetry.
