Glimmer Train’s New Writer Award

New Writer Award: 1st place $2,500 and publication. Deadline: 10/31. (The Fiction Open and Very Short grace periods end on 9/10.) Make a submission here. Open only to emerging writers whose fiction has not appeared in any print publication with a circulation over 5,000. (Previous online publication is fine.) The 1st-place winner will be published in Glimmer Train and will receive $2,500 and 10 copies of that issue. Second- and 3rd-place win $500/$300, respectively, or, if accepted for publication, $700. Lascaux Prize in Poetry Contest, Deadline: September 30

The Lascaux Prize in Poetry closes at the end of the month. Poems may be previously published or unpublished, and simultaneous submissions are accepted. Winner receives $1,000, a bronze medallion, and publication in The Lascaux Review. The winner and all finalists will be published in The 2018 Lascaux Prize Anthology. Two copies of the anthology will be supplied to every poet appearing in it. Entry fee is $10. Poets may enter more than once, and as many as five poems may be submitted per entry. Black River Chapbook Competition Entries Due Next Week

Black Lawrence Press’s biannual Black River Chapbook Competition will stop accepting submissions next Wednesday, May 31! The competition is open to new emerging and established writers. They are accepting chapbooks of poems or short fiction between 16-36 pages in length. Winners will receive book publication, a $500 cash award, and ten copies of the book. New Letters Literary Awards Due Date Approaching

Entries of fiction, essays, and poetry are being accepted for the New Letters Literary Awards until Thursday, May 18. Winners receive a $1,500 cash prize and publication, all entries are considered for publication, and entrants receive a year-long subscription to New Letters. A Flash Fiction Contest from PEN America, Poets & Writers, and The Masters Review

The Masters Review, in collaboration with PEN America and Poets & Writers, is hosting a flash fiction contest with a $2,000 prize! Southern Fried Karma 2017 Novel Contest

The Atlanta start-up multimedia company, Southern Fried Karma (SFK) Press is now accepting submissions to their 2017 Novel Contest. The contest focuses on finding authors with manuscripts that illuminate the diversity of the Southern experience. There is no reading fee, and the winning author will receive a $1,500 advance toward an SFK Press publishing contact. All finalists will also be considered for publication.
