SAFTA’s 2015 Writing Retreats

Sundress Academy for the Arts (SAFTA) is offering 2015 summer writing retreats in fiction and poetry. The three-day, two-night retreats take place at SAFTA’s Firefly Farms in Knoxville, Tennessee, and include instruction, writing supplies, food, drink, transportation to and from the airport, and all onsite amenities for $200. Camping equipment is also available for rent. The fiction writing retreat (May 29–31) and the poetry writing retreat (June 12–14) are limited to 15 slots each. Luminarts Creative Writing Competition for Young Writers (Deadline: 6/1/15)

The Luminarts Cultural Foundation at the Union League Club of Chicago is accepting applications for its annual creative writing competition, which awards five $5,000 grant awards and Luminarts Fellowships across the categories of creative nonfiction, fiction, and poetry. Luminarts competitions are open to applicants who are between the ages of 18 and 30. The submission deadline is June 1, 2015. Writers may submit their work here.

Summer Literary Seminars: Lithuania

Summer Literary Seminars (SLS) is offering a two-week residency program in Lithuania this summer (July 14–28, 2015) for $2,400. SLS will fill the 20 spots on a first-come, first-served basis.

Reminder: 2015 Hudson Prize (Deadline: 3/31/15)

Black Lawrence Press is still accepting submissions of unpublished poetry or short story collections for the 2015 Hudson Prize. The contest winner will receive book publication, a $1,000 cash award, and ten copies of the book. The submission deadline is March 31, 2015. Writers can submit their manuscripts here.

Call for Papers: English Department Spring Conference (Deadline: 4/6/15)

The DePaul English department’s sixth annual student-run spring conference will take place on Friday, May 8, 2015, in Arts & Letters Hall. DePaulians may submit their original works of fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, literary analysis, pedagogical and literary theory, and publishing, professional, and teaching practices. Two Cities Review Prose Contest and Catamaran Writing Conference

Two Cities Review, a new literary magazine, is accepting submissions for its prose contest. The contest theme is Cities Gone Wrong. The winner in each category—fiction and nonfiction—will receive $250 and publication. The submission deadline is March 15, 2015.
