Catamaran accepts fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, and visual art. Themes they are especially interested in are science and nature writing, creativity and the artistic process, personal journey and travel, and innovation; any setting is fine, but the West Coast is of particular interest. There is an $8 reading fee for general submissions. You can submit to Catamaran at any time of the year! They would like to consider your submission for two consecutive quarterly issues of the magazine after you submit, so please allow up to six months for a decision. The Missouri Review‘s 34th Annual Jeffrey E. Smith Editors’ Prize is accepting submissions through Tuesday, October 1! One winner from each genre (fiction, nonfiction, and poetry) will receive a $5,000 cash prize, as well as publication and promotion. Winners will be announced in early 2025. Glassworks publishes nonfiction, fiction, poetry, hybrid pieces, and artwork, both digitally and in print. They are currently reading until December 15, 2024 for their 2025 print issue. Glassworks also publishes flash fiction, prose poetry, and micro essays (under 750 words each) every month in their online edition, Flash Glass.
