Black Lawrence Press’s biannual Black River Chapbook Competition will stop accepting submissions next Wednesday, May 31! The competition is open to new emerging and established writers. They are accepting chapbooks of poems or short fiction between 16-36 pages in length. Winners will receive book publication, a $500 cash award, and ten copies of the book. Entries of fiction, essays, and poetry are being accepted for the New Letters Literary Awards until Thursday, May 18. Winners receive a $1,500 cash prize and publication, all entries are considered for publication, and entrants receive a year-long subscription to New Letters. The Masters Review, in collaboration with PEN America and Poets & Writers, is hosting a flash fiction contest with a $2,000 prize! The contest is for emerging writers only, and only accepts previously unpublished stories. All submissions must be under 1,000 words.
