DISQUIET

Submissions are now open for the DISQUIET Literary Prize! This contest is for writing in any genre, by a writer who has not published more than one book. The winners in each genre (nonfiction, fiction, poetry) will be published. The grand prize winner will receive a full scholarship including tuition, lodging, and a $1,000 travel stipend to Lisbon in 2021. Dynamo Verlag, a boutique publisher of poetry and fiction, has launched its first-ever book contest. The contest is open to book-length manuscripts of poetry or prose. The entry fee is $15 and the winner will receive a $500 advance against royalties and publication in Fall 2021. The contest will close January 31, 2021. Click here to submit. Writing Opportunity

Miracle Monocle is a journal of innovative literary and visual art funded by the University of Louisville. The winner of this new award series will receive a $200 prize and publication in the journal. Poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, and experimental/hybrid literature are all welcome. Writers must identify as Black and be 25 years of age or younger. Entry to the competition will be free and facilitated through Duotrope’s new Duosuma system. Submissions will re-open in January. The San Miguel Writers’ Conference & Literary Festival is looking for three writers to join in their Literary Season online, an interactive six-month writing conference experience where writers attend workshops and seminars, virtually meet keynote speakers such as Margaret Atwood, and network with literary agents. Glassworks is the literary magazine of Rowan University’s Master of Arts in Writing Program. Find out more submission information. Flash fiction, prose poetry, and micro essays are published monthly in the online edition of Flash Glass. Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis depending on need.

TellUs, the multilingual and multicultural e-magazine from  the Collaborative for Multilingual Writing and Research (CMWR), a program within the University Center for Writing-based Learning, is now LIVE.  Find their first issue here.

The Spokane Prize for Short Fiction is open for submissions. Tellus is an online magazine celebrating the many voices of our DePaul community by showcasing the creative artwork and writing of multilingual and multicultural students. The University on New Orleans Press is now accepting submissions for their Publishing Lab Prize. Now entering its sixth year, the UNO Press Publishing Lab is looking for full length fiction manuscripts for this year’s prize. The selected author will receive a ten thousand dollar ($10,000) advance on royalties and a contract to publish with UNO Press. The work does not have to be regionally focused. The University of Nebraska Press has announced the Backwaters Prize in Poetry competition is now open. The winner will be awarded a $2,000 cash prize and the honorable mention will be awarded a $1,000 cash prize. Both winners will be awarded the publication of their book by the University of Nebraska Press under its imprint, The Backwaters Press. The judge for the 2020 contest is Nebraska State Poet, Matt Mason. All manuscripts must be sent electronically via Submittable by May 15.
