The Summer Literary Seminars (SLS) are now open for submissions to their 2017 contests in fiction and poetry. The contests offer writers and opportunity to win full funding for SLS programs in Georgia and Kenya as well as publication in Fence Magazine. The entry fee is $17 and the deadline is February 28. All current, incoming, or prospective graduate students, this is a notification that the application deadline for 2017 Graduate Assistant in the English Department has been extended to Sunday, January 22. Find full information below: Each spring, the English Department awards a limited number of graduate assistantships for the upcoming academic year. The Department of English is pleased to announce The Dontrey Britt-Hart Endowed Scholarship  a scholarship opportunity for M.A. in Writing and Publishing. The scholarship totals $2,200 in aide and applications are due February 5. Interested students can apply online. Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to a student enrolled in the Writing and Publishing Program in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences who is in good academic standing and has financial need. The Armagh Project from ieiMedia offers students to study creative writing in the beautiful town in Northern Ireland from July 2 to July 30. Students learn and practice skills in their chosen field while sharing with each other through travel, readings, class activities and guest speakers. Students have classes at the AmmA Centre, a technologically enhanced multimedia center. Students will also spend a week at Glebe House in County Down and visit Belfast, with an optional trip to Dublin. The M.A. in English and M.A. in Writing and Publishing programs are offering Partial Tuition Scholarships (PTS) to recognize the outstanding academic achievement of students in the English department’s two graduate programs. Partial Tuition Scholarships provide a partial reimbursement for tuition paid for 2017 winter graduate courses in English taken toward the MAE and MAWP degrees.
