The deadline for applications to Campus 1871 has been extended to this Friday, February 10. The weekend-long event takes place from March 31- April 2 and will be attended by universities across the Illinois and the Chicagoland area. At Campus 1871 you and a team will pitch and then develop a unique idea for a business startup that can solve one the many pressing questions of today. The deadline to apply for scholarships to the Minnesota Northwoods Writers Conference is approaching! Official conference applications are due May 1, but scholarship applications are due February 20. The conference takes place this summer June 19-25, at Bemidji State University in small town northern Minnesota. The conference fee is $550, however, several $300 scholarships will be awarded based upon need and literary merit. Apply for scholarships online here. Chicago Women in Publishing is sponsoring an event focusing on e-book publishing on Wednesday, February 15. The event will focus on an authors perspective and advice for writers on the process of getting a work published digitally.  The event takes place at the US Bank Building (190 S. The Summer Literary Seminars (SLS) are now open for submissions to their 2017 contests in fiction and poetry. The contests offer writers and opportunity to win full funding for SLS programs in Georgia and Kenya as well as publication in Fence Magazine. The entry fee is $17 and the deadline is February 28. The Department of English is pleased to announce The Dontrey Britt-Hart Endowed Scholarship  a scholarship opportunity for M.A. in Writing and Publishing. The scholarship totals $2,200 in aide and applications are due February 5. Interested students can apply online. The Armagh Project from ieiMedia offers students to study creative writing in the beautiful town in Northern Ireland from July 2 to July 30. Students learn and practice skills in their chosen field while sharing with each other through travel, readings, class activities and guest speakers. Students have classes at the AmmA Centre, a technologically enhanced multimedia center. Students will also spend a week at Glebe House in County Down and visit Belfast, with an optional trip to Dublin.
