Crook & Folly, DePaul University’s award-winning, all-student, journal of literature and art, seeks applications from graduate and undergraduate students for two challenging and exciting volunteer positions as 2019 Editors-in-Chief.    The new editors will begin work planning for the new year late this Spring 2018 and will hire their section editors during Fall quarter 2018. MAWP is the only program I’ve found that combines all of my passions: creative writing, editing, teaching, and journalism. The English Department will be hosting our annual End-of-the-Year Celebration on Friday, June 1st from 3:00-5:00 pm. We would love to celebrate with you! The celebration will held in the second-floor atrium of Arts & Letters Hall. We will have a short program honoring our outstanding students and this year’s graduates. A reminder to graduate students (or prospective students) that deadlines for positions as a English Department Graduate Assistant are due January 15! Graduate assistants work roughly 20 hours  a week in the department and receive a tuition waiver for up to 12 courses and a $7,500 stipend. Interested parties can find out more below, download an application packet, and visit  on the department website for full details. Each spring, the English Department awards approximately 5-6 Graduate Assistantships for the upcoming academic year. Congratulations to MAE Mihaela Stoica who will be presenting a paper on ambivalent masculinity in James Tiptree, Jr’s novella “Huston, Houston, Do You Read?” at the 2017 Science Fiction Research Association annual conference. The five day conference hosted by the University of California at Riverside takes place from June 27 to July 1 with the theme “Unknown Pasts/Unseen Futures.” Find a full schedule of presenters is available here. As the quarter inches closer to summer break, Ex Libris would like to update folks on a few awesome accomplishments from the last few weeks. First, a kudos to Dave Welch who will be spending part of his summer at the Sewanee Writer’s Conference, and will have his tuition paid as their Tennessee Williams Scholar. Great work Dave! Next, two professors in the department are recent gran winners! Rebecca Johns Trissler was awarded a  Quality of Instruction Council (QIC) Competitive Instructional Grant, and Paula McQuade was awarded a University Research Council (URC) Competitive Research Grant.
