They Call Us Flawed, new feminist zine from DePaul English students, is seeking poems and short stories about beauty standards for their next issue. Those interested should send submissions to KailahPeters@gmail.com with the subject line “They Call Us Flawed Submission” by May 12.

In lieu of our annual in-person Spring English conference, the English department is now accepting submissions from students for a new 2020 Spring English Conference online launching June 1!  This is an excellent opportunity for students to showcase their work and to share it with a positive, supportive community of DePaul faculty and peers. The M.A. in English and M.A. in Writing and Publishing programs are offering Partial Tuition Scholarships (PTS) to recognize the outstanding academic achievement of students in the English department’s two graduate programs. We are not currently offering compensation for student writing.

DePaul’s Blue Book: Best Illinois High School Writing 2018-2019, edited by Professor Chris Green and a class of graduate students, is now available at www.depaulsbluebook.com!  Pieces were chosen from high school literary magazines submitted from across Illinois. Professor Green and his Editing class selected sixty-six pieces of poetry, fiction, and nonfiction. This is the first of what Professor Green hopes to be an annual tribute to our state’s best young creative writers.   If you’re free, please consider attending the anthology’s launch reading on Saturday, February 8th, 5:30-7:00, Student Center #314. 

Writing and Publishing students: Rebecca Johns Trissler, director of MFA/MA in Creative Writing and Publishing, is planning on holding another pitch meeting for anyone who wants to talk about 1) pitching their work for publication; or 2) pitching themselves for jobs in publishing or higher education.
