Three Upcoming Chicago Women in Publishing Events

Chicago Women in Publishing (CWIP) will be hosting three upcoming educational and networking events. The first is an educational program exploring career opportunities in the marketing communication field. Marcom veteran Diana Schneidman, author of Real Skills, Real Income, will discuss the many specialties under the marcom umbrella and review the pros and cons of full-time corporate career versus freelancing. Celebrate Gwendolyn Brooks Conference!

In conjunction with the Our Miss Brooks 100, and in celebration of the centennial birthday of  the iconic Chicago poet Gwendolyn Brooks, the University of Chicago will be hosting Centennial Brooks a  three day conference featuring scholars, poets, musicians, and artists inspired by Miss Brooks. 2017 Cervantes Symposium

The 17th Annual Chicago Cervantes Symposium will be held Friday, April 21, 2017. The  event – sponsored by The Cervantes Society of America, The Newberry Center for Renaissance Studies, and DePaul University – is free and open to the public. It takes place from 8-5:30 at the Instituto Cervantes (31 W Ohio St, Chicago). CWIP: Publishing for Professionals

Chicago Women in Publishing (CWIP) is hosting a full-day workshop on Saturday, March 11. The event has a unique character, in that it focuses on creating, publishing, and promoting a niche-market nonfiction book to use as a marketing and branding tool for businesses. Deadline Extended for Campus 1871

The deadline for applications to Campus 1871 has been extended to this Friday, February 10. The weekend-long event takes place from March 31- April 2 and will be attended by universities across the Illinois and the Chicagoland area. CWIP E-Book Publishing

Chicago Women in Publishing is sponsoring an event focusing on e-book publishing on Wednesday, February 15. The event will focus on an authors perspective and advice for writers on the process of getting a work published digitally.  The event takes place at the US Bank Building (190 S. Our Miss Brooks 100: Celebrating the Cenetennial of Gwendolyn Brooks

DePaul English faculty, staff, and students are invited to join the Art Institute in celebrating the centennial of beloved, profoundly talented, and Pulitzer Prize winning poet Gwendolyn Brooks. The event will feature five Pulitzer Prize winning poets – Rita Dove, Yusef Komunyakaa, Natasha Trethewey, Tracy Smith and Gregory Pardlo – reading their favorite poem from Miss Brooks, followed by a conversation moderated by award-winning journalist and author Natalie Moore.
