The Lit & Luz Festival at the DePaul Art Museum

The DePaul Art Museum in collaboration with the annual Lit & Luz Festival of cultural exchange between Chicago and Mexico City (organized by MAKE literary magazine) is hosting a conversation between artists Jorge Méndez Blake and Dianna Frid on how their respective cities, libraries, and poetry have influenced their work. The discussion will be moderated by Mexico City-based writer and art critic Gabriela Jauregui and DPAM assistant curator Mia Lopez. Sunday Salon Chicago, September 25 with Dan Stolar!

Two Exciting Events with Kathleen Rooney, Eric Plattner, and René Magritte!

Congratulations are in order for English Professor Kathleen Rooney and WRD Professor Eric Plattner, co-editors of the soon to be released René Magritte: Selected Writings! The book collects letters, interviews, and more from modern master René Magritte translating them to English for the first time. In preparation for the official September 22nd event, Kathleen and Eric will be hosting two promotional events. The English Institute’s 2016 Conference

Graduate students are encouraged to attend The English Institute’s 75th annual conference, TIME,  this year at the University of Chicago. The conference takes place September 16-17 and will cover E.P. Thompson’s 1967 essay, “Time, Work-Discipline, and Industrial Capitalism.” Students can find out more information and a full schedule of the conference here, and register online here. Registration for graduates from non-affiliate institutions (such as DePaul) costs $20. A downloadable PDF of Thompson’s essay can be found here.
