The deadline to submit to the 11th annual Spring English conference has been extended to this Friday, May 15th! Find full guidelines here. Initially, the department intended to host the conference through a website featuring video panels that could be accessed any time. After further consideration and discussion with students, however, the English department has decided to shift to synchronous panels to be held on Friday, June 5, 1-5pm via Zoom. In lieu of our annual in-person Spring English conference, the English department is now accepting submissions from students for a new 2020 Spring English Conference online launching June 1!  This is an excellent opportunity for students to showcase their work and to share it with a positive, supportive community of DePaul faculty and peers. Register for FREE (bit.ly/queertopia2020) for the 13th annual Queertopia conference, New Queer and Trans Politics?, on February 29 (Saturday) at Kresge Centennial Hall (Northwestern Evanston campus)! This year the conference features four student research panels, a keynote by Kim L Hunt, Chicago LGBT Hall of Fame Inductee and Executive Director of Pride Action Tank, and a screening and discussion of the film, Criminal Queers. The 28th annual Midwestern Conference on Literature, Language and Media (MCLLM) at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL, is currently accepting proposals for 15-20 minute presentations from individuals and panels.   This year’s conference theme is Vision 2020: Seeing and Being Seen. This theme encourages argument-driven papers that explore topics concerned with representation and participation among a variety of identities (race, class, gender, etc.) in private and public spaces and across mediums (literature, film, television, etc.). Graduate students and postgraduate scholars are invited to present their research, scholarly or creative work at the Queertopia 2020 conference at Northwestern University on February 29.   Entering its 13th year, Queertopia is an annual LGBTQ+ academic conference organized by Northwestern University’s Queer Pride Graduate Student Association.
