Alumna Caroline Macon Fleischer (MFA ’20) will be at Barnes & Noble in Wicker Park this Friday, November 14 at 7 p.m. for an evening centered on her new literary horror novel, A Play About a Curse. Fleischer will be joined in conversation with Jami Nakamura Lin, author of the speculative memoir The Night Parade. The Gay & Lesbian Review/WORLDWIDE (The G&LR)—a bimonthly magazine of history, culture, and politics focusing on LGBTQ+ issues that publishes non-fiction and poetry, as well as reviews of books, movies, and plays—announced the 4th annual Charles S. Longcope Jr. Writers and Artists Grant for emerging scholars, writers, and artists across disciplines and fields that make a contribution to LGBTQ+ scholarship or the arts. New Ohio Review is accepting submissions for their NORward Prizes in Poetry, Fiction and Nonfiction through November 15, 2025 with an entry fee of $22. Each category winner will receive $750 and publication in a future print issue of New Ohio Review. NOR is also open for general Nonfiction submissions through November 15, 2025, with a entry fee of only $3.
