Recent Alumni and Upcoming Graduates Spotlight!

Here are some of our MAE and MAWP students that are soon to graduate or have already graduated!

Eli Brown will be graduating from the MAWP Program in Spring 2019! Eli is currently interviewing for a technical writing job at a medical company. Eli is  moving back to Santa Ana, CA after graduation and plans to apply for PhD programs at USC and UCLA in the fall. Eli hopes to do the technical writing job for the gap year, and then proceed to studying creative writing and literature further in the fall of 2020. 
Marie Christophell will be graduating from the MAE Program in Spring 2019! After graduation, she plans on taking a 1.5 to 3 year break from academia, during which she will pursue both her personal training certification and a teaching position at a local community college. As she works in these two fields, she’ll be reading extensively and exploring different academic conversations to determine where her greatest interest lies. Once she has decided what she wants to contribute, Marie aspires to return to school for her PhD and eventually become a full-fledged professor.
Eleanor Christenson will be graduating from the MAE Program in Spring 2019! Eleanor has been hired at College of Lake County, where she been an intern for the past six months, as an Adjunct Instructor teaching two sections of College Composition. She has also interviewed at Oakton! Eleanor is excited about continuing her research in writing studies and pedagogy. This summer she will be attending workshops and trainings in preparation for teaching and building her syllabus content.
Chandler Garland graduated from the MAWP Program in Winter 2019! Since graduation, Chandler has worked  full-time at the Field Museum as a Communications Specialist in their Institutional Advancement department. 
Anthony Madia will be graduating from the MAE Program in Spring 2019! Anthony is going to be considering different Ph.D. programs to apply to, and is also celebrating his wedding in September.
Jason Oliva will be graduating from the MAWP Program in Spring 2019! Jason is moving to St. Louis this summer, where he hopes to obtain an English teaching position at an area community college. He also plans to continue working on his creative writing projects.
Lisa Parzefall will be graduating from the MAE Program in Spring 2019! She wants to teach at community colleges for now (Composition, ESL, English) but is also considering a PhD in a writing-related field such as Writing & Rhetoric or Applied Linguistics in the future.
Camila Restrepo will be graduating from the MAE Program in Spring 2019! After graduation, Camila will work as an administrative apprentice for The Viola Project during their Shakespeare-centered summer camps! After that, she plans on continuing her job search, and she hopes to work for an arts focused education program.
Lauren Rouse will be graduating from the MAE Program in Spring 2019! After graduation, she’ll be pursuing her PhD at the University of Central Florida in Texts and Technology.
Jake Spangler will be graduating from the MAE Program in Spring 2019! He will be continuing to work for Chicago Public Schools as a 5th year English Literature and Language Teacher at Fenger Academy High School and as an Opportunity Schools Ambassador for the Chicago Public Schools District
Caroline Thinnes will be graduating from the MAE Program in Spring 2019! She will hopefully be teaching and is currently looking for a job at a high school.
