The Sonora Review is pleased to announce that it is open to contest submissions for Issue 75: DESIRE until November 5th.    Sonora Review is run entirely by graduate students in the MFA program at the University of Arizona. The fourteenth Anthony Hecht Poetry Prize is open for submissions. Anyone over the age of 18 who has not already published more than one full-length poetry collection may submit. The winner will receive a purse of $3000, and his or her collection will be published by Waywiser in the USA and the UK in the fall of 2019. CALYX is looking for new and emerging poets from different demographics. The winner will receive $300 cash and publication in CALYX Journal Vol. 31:2, Winter 2019. Three runners-up will receive a one-issue subscription and publication on the CALYX website. The contest runs from now through June 30, 2018 and is open to any theme or subject. Please submit up to 3 poems (6 pages maximum) of unpublished poetry (both online and hard copy submissions are accepted). There is a $15 reading fee. Twice each year Black Lawrence Press will run the Black River Chapbook Competition for an unpublished chapbook of poems or short fiction between 16-36 pages in length. The contest is open to new, emerging, and established writers. The winner will receive book publication, a $500 cash award, and ten copies of the book. Prizes are awarded on publication.
